This family session was such a sweet one to photograph. Not only was it mom and dad’s anniversary, but it was also the day after their little one’s birthday — the perfect excuse to document some memories together.
We kept things close to home and used their farmland for the photos, which made everything feel even more meaningful. There’s something so special about photographing families on land that’s part of their story — wide open fields, familiar places for the kids to explore, and a backdrop that feels like them.

I love when sessions double as milestones. We started with some playful family photos — lots of running, giggles, and those little moments that happen when you let kids be themselves. Then, I made sure mom and dad got some shots together too, because anniversaries deserve their own spotlight. And of course, we had to celebrate their birthday boy with some extra attention — the way he lit up running through the grass was the sweetest.
One of my favorite parts of being a Stevens Point family photographer is how unique each session feels. Sometimes it’s a trail or a park, sometimes it’s a lake, and sometimes it’s right at home, like this one. Central Wisconsin is full of beautiful backdrops, but what really makes a session special is the people in it.
For this shoot, the family kept their outfits simple and timeless, which worked so well against the natural farm setting. I always recommend choosing pieces you feel comfortable moving in — because with kids, we go from posed portraits to tickle fights pretty fast. Those in-between moments usually end up being everyone’s favorites anyway.
Whether it’s an anniversary, a birthday, or just a “let’s freeze this stage of life” kind of moment, I’d love to photograph it for you. I work with families all around Stevens Point, Wausau, Wisconsin Rapids, and Central Wisconsin, both outdoors and in the studio.
