Some engagement sessions are just pretty… and some actually feel like a story while you’re in them.
Molly and Vinny’s Milwaukee engagement session was one of those ♡
Every location we went to meant something to them, which always makes such a difference in how a session feels and looks.
This is something I always tell my couples. If there’s a place that’s part of your story, start there. It instantly makes your photos feel more personal and less like you’re just posing somewhere random.
Walking through campus with them felt so natural. You could tell this place holds a lot for them, and that always brings out the best kind of emotion in photos.
If you’re planning your own session, Marquette is such a beautiful option for engagement photos in Milwaukee. It has that classic architecture mixed with soft, open spaces which photographs so well.
From there, we headed over to their church on campus, which is where they’re getting married 🥹
This part of their Milwaukee engagement session felt especially meaningful. It brought in such a big part of their relationship and what their future looks like together.
Incorporating your wedding location into your engagement photos is something I love when it makes sense. It adds depth and turns your photos into something that actually tells your story, not just what this season looks like.
After a quick outfit change, we made our way toward the lakefront near Harbor House.
Ending their engagement session by Lake Michigan was the perfect contrast to where we started. We had the Milwaukee skyline in the background, the water, and a completely different vibe from campus.
It was very windy, not even going to pretend it wasn’t lol. But honestly, that’s what made these photos even better. The movement, the energy, everything just felt so real.
Lake Michigan engagement photos always have that soft, romantic feel, especially when you lean into whatever the weather gives you.
One of my favorite parts of this entire session was something you wouldn’t even know just by looking at the photos.
Vinny had proposed to Molly privately the night before, and then surprised her with this engagement session the next day.
Which is actually the sweetest thing ever.
Everything felt so fresh and emotional in the best way. You could feel how excited they were, and that always translates into the photos without even trying.
This is exactly why I love photographing engagement sessions. It’s not just about getting cute photos for announcements or your wedding website. It’s about capturing this really short, really special season of life.
If you’re starting to think about your own engagement session, this is your sign to make it feel like you.
That’s always when the best photos happen.
If you’re looking for location ideas, Milwaukee has so many good options. Marquette University, the lakefront, and spots around downtown all photograph so well and can easily be combined into one session.
I photograph engagement sessions in Milwaukee, at Marquette University, along Lake Michigan, and throughout Wisconsin.
My approach is always to keep things feeling natural, easy, and actually like you. Nothing overly posed, nothing forced. LET’S HAVE FUN!!
If you’re planning your own Milwaukee engagement session, I would love to help you bring it to life ♡
